Its real value isn’t the sticker on the box—it’s the conversation leaders are forced to have about readiness, development bets, and bench risk. Keep calibration tight (use evidence, not charisma), revisit twice a year, and attach concrete actions (stretch roles, mentors, targeted training) instead of letting it languish as a slide.
